The Price of Honor
Book 1 of the Minotaurs of Algoron
By Gus Gallows
Now, obviously, I wrote this one, but since we
are just starting this site up, it is the only
book I have to work with. So, I will refrain
from saying how great it is and just give you
the run down.
First, a little background. The book is based on
a game called the
Dark and
Shattered Lands or DSL, a text based
role-playing game founded by my brother. It is
the background story I created for one of my
characters there. His name is Pah'min and he is
a Minotaur.
At a young age, the acts of his father cost him
and his family everything they hold dear.
Whatever he had done had left his son without
honor and without a name. In a kingdom such as
Ganth, honor is the highest of all attributes.
To be without it is to be shunned by all and
forced to scrape by with no help from anyone.
Pah'min, however, was different. He is quickly
discovered by the one house in Ganth which none
chose or even aspired to be in. The house's
primary purpose in Ganth is to train experts in
the covert arts of spying.
Pah'min took the offer to join the house as he
had nothing else to lose and only the promise of
restored honor to gain. He soon proved that not
only was he capable of learning their tactics
quickly, but when put into battle, became
something else. An unstoppable force impervious
to the pains of combat. A blessing as well as a
curse that would steer his fate as he leaves the
only home he has known to earn back his father's
name and restore his family's honor.
For the next 30 years, he would integrate into
the kingdom of his enemy, even going as far as
to raise a family within it's hated borders. He
would be challenged in ways no Ganthian should
be and he would pay the exuberant price required
to restore his honor.
This tale is filled with danger at ever corner,
magic and deceit. It is dark in nature and has a
high body count. If that strikes your interest,
then this might just be the book for you.
